Travis Walton Abduction
November 5, 1975 — Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, Arizona, USA
The Encounter
On November 5, 1975, Travis Walton and six coworkers were driving home from a logging job in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest near Snowflake, Arizona. At approximately 6:15 PM, the crew observed a luminous, golden disc hovering above a clearing. Walton exited the truck and approached the object. A beam of blue-green light struck him, lifting him off the ground and throwing him backward.
The Disappearance
Walton's terrified coworkers fled the scene. When they returned with law enforcement, Walton had vanished. An extensive search involving helicopters, tracking dogs, and hundreds of volunteers found no trace. The six witnesses were subjected to polygraph examinations — all passed, confirming they genuinely believed they had witnessed Walton being struck by a beam from a UFO.
The Return
Five days later, Walton reappeared near a gas station in Heber, Arizona, disoriented and dehydrated. He initially believed only a few hours had passed. He described waking aboard a craft, encountering both Grey-type aliens and human-looking beings wearing blue uniforms. He described medical examination procedures and a room where he was shown projected star maps.
Lasting Impact
The Travis Walton case remains one of the most compelling abduction accounts due to the multiple independent witnesses, polygraph evidence, and the missing-time aspect with verifiable timeline. Walton documented his experience in "The Walton Experience" (1978), later adapted into the film "Fire in the Sky" (1993). He has maintained his account consistently for over four decades.
